![]() | Mr Kevin Tyler - Managing Director,brings a wealth of teaching and administrative experience to QIBA, having spent his entire teaching career on the Gold Coast. As Managing Director, Mr Tyler administers and monitors QIBA’s courses, financial systems, students, staff, Australian and International Marketing and Projects. Mr Tyler is responsible for the daily running of the Academy and administration staff at QIBA, with particular interest in overseas students’ achievement and well being. |
![]() | Simone Short - Registrar and Office ManagerA key person in the Academy, Simone is responsible for registration for domestic and international students, supervision of office staff, liaison with overseas agents, student record maintenance as well as visa and passport monitoring. As Registrar, Simone handles all Enrolment applications. Simone’s interests are dress design, kick boxing and landscape gardening and she enjoys travelling. Simone has travelled extensively in England and Europe and now is learning Spanish prior to visiting Spain in the near future. Hola! from Simone. |
| Maureen Coley - Reception & AdministrationMaureen comes to QIBA with a background in private secretarial work, office administration and reception. Educated in Melbourne, she completed secretarial studies at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and formerly worked for a Senior Director of Air Traffic Control with the Civil Aviation Department, the Spastic Society of Victoria, County Court and varied work with Chiropractors. She has a genuine interest in, and empathy for people, and as a mother of 3 adults, is well equipped to answer students' queries and problems with a smile. Maureen's interests include hypnotherapy, yoga (qualified teacher), Eastern studies, philosophy, travel and painting. |
| Karen Jepsen - Homestay & AdministrationKaren has many years of experience in customer relations and business management, providing her with effective administration and communication skills. Karen has also worked as a child care worker and in that role was responsible for the physical and psychological well-being of young children. Karen holds academic qualifications in Arts and Psychology and worked as a Postgraduate Course Advisor at the University of NSW. This is where Karen gained a lot of experience with international students and study pathways. |
| Gavin Otway – Head Teacher Business and TechnologyB.Bus, Dip.Bus, Cert IV Workplace Assessment and Training, G.K.I.H.S. (M.Ed, Grad Cert TESOL pending) Gavin maintains a keen interest in organisational change and innovation, corporate education, and human resource management as key issues in business success, He has also consulted in the development of small businesses in Queensland across multiple sectors and is passionate about supporting small business enterprise and entrepreneurship. Gavin is eager to incorporate his experience into vocational education and support students learning new skills to take into the workplace, develop their own business or for future studies. |
| Claire RodwayAssistant Director of Studies - University Preparation Programs and TESOLBA (Hons), PGCE, Adv, Cert. TESOL, MCoT, MA (Appl.Ling.) Claire graduated from the University of Kent, UK, with a BA (Hons) in English and History and worked for ten years in the British publishing industry as a buyer, production manager, trainer and executive. During this time, she also studied Traditional Herbal Medicine and practised Clinical and Holistic Aromatherapy.After completing her teacher training in TESOL and English Literature, Claire worked at the Yorkshire Coast College, Scarborough, in the departments of Humanities and Health & Beauty. In early 2003, Claire moved to Australia with her family. She joined the QIBA teaching staff later in 2003 and has been specialising in University preparation programs and TESOL professional development projects. Claire recently completed her Masters of Applied Linguistics and has special interests in Critical Discourses, E-learning and International English Teacher training. Claire has recently become an Australian citizen and is now Assistant Director of Studies at QIBA with specific responsibilities for curriculum and teaching resource development projects.
