QIBA Academy Rules

  1. Students are required to dress in a neat, clean and tidy manner. No thongs, singlets or brief clothing are permitted.
  2. A student under the influence of drugs or alcohol shall be expelled with no refund of fees. The same applies to a student, who is found to have supplied drugs to another student at QIBA.
  3. Smoking is not allowed inside the Academy or in any part of the Showcase on the Beach Shopping Centre.
  4. Eating and drinking are allowed in the Student Common Room only.
  5. The Student Common Room provides a fridge, microwave and boiling water. Please bring your own tea, coffee and refreshments.
  6. All students are required to attend class in session times and must take breaks according to the timetable below.

  7. Regular and punctual attendance is essential in all courses. Absence from the Academy should be reported by telephone.
  8. All students are required to do a responsible amount of home study.
  9. Electronic Communication – Incoming phone calls will only be accepted in cases of extreme urgency. A message will be taken and the information relayed to the student. MOBILE PHONES must be switched off inside QIBA. Internet and E-mail facilities are available between 3:00pm and 4:00pm Monday to Friday.
  10. The photocopier is not available for student use. However, in exceptional circumstances and with reasonable notice, the office staff can make photocopies for students at 20 cents per copy. Students are advised to use the Council Library for personal copying needs.
  11. Care, consideration and respect for fellow teachers and students is requested at all times. Polite behaviour is expected both inside and outside QIBA. Unruly conduct may lead to suspension or expulsion.
  12. Students found cheating during tests or using other students’ work in assessments shall be suspended or expelled from the academy
  13. QIBA resources may not be borrowed without permission from the Director of Studies or Principal.
  14. LATE RULE – If a student is late 3 times (more than 15 minutes) he/she will be marked absent on the third occasion.
  15. No behaviour which is in breach of Australian Law is tolerated and may disqualify a student from completing his/her course at QIBA. This may also affect your student visa status and any refund entitlements as explained in the Enrolment Form (Refund/Cancellation Policy No.9). Please note: QIBA is required by law to report any breaches of international student visa conditions (e.g. lack of attendance) to DIMA for further action.
  16. Students must advise QIBA of any changes to their contact details. This includes: address in Australia, telephone number or other contact details (e.g. homestay family, email address, etc).
